Cleaner sexually assaulted at metro station, Dubai court hears

DUBAI // A cleaner was sexually assaulted by a man at the Abu Hail metro station, a Dubai Court heard.

Prosecutors said 32-year-old Omani MH molested Nepali SS, 32, on March 14 this year by rubbing his body against her back and touching her breasts.

SS said that at 6.30am on the day of the incident she noticed MH near the station’s staff lounge. “He asked me where I was going and I responded that I was going to clean the toilets.”

About five minutes later SS again saw MH, who asked her for a kiss. “I told him no. After an hour I went to the staff lounge to have my breakfast,” she said.

“While I was trying to bring down my meal from the cupboard, he pressed his body against my back and grabbed my breasts,” SS told prosecutors.

The victim tried to scream but MH put his hand on her mouth. “I started to resist and told him to leave me alone,” she said.

SS managed to break free and ran out of the room. The cleaner told her boss, Nepali DB, 38, that she had been molested and showed him scratches on her right arm.

While DB and the cleaner were on their way to report the incident, MH appeared and asked what was wrong with SS.

“SS told me that he was the one who attacked her,” DB added.

“I told the station manager about the incident and we alerted police, who came and apprehended MH.”

At Dubai Criminal Court on Wednesday, MH entered a plea of not guilty for a charge of sexual assault.

The next hearing is set for April 22.
