ABU DHABI // With cooler temperatures and strong winds expected across much of the country on Tuesday, parents have been told to dress their children warmly.
“Precautions should be taken by children and students in the early morning to dress well because the temperature is going to be mostly cold,” said Sufian Farrah, a meteorologist with the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology.
The lower temperatures will be accompanied by moderate to strong north-westerly winds that may reach between 20 and 50 kilometres an hour, making it feel even colder, Mr Farrah said.
He said the windy weather will continue on Wednesday, particularly over the sea and coastal areas, which could cause dust.
Mr Farrah said beachgoers should also avoid swimming at sea. “It’s not advised because it will be very rough in the Oman Sea and Arabian Gulf,” he said.
Temperatures on Tuesday are forecast to reach highs between 23°C and 26°C along the coast, 25°C and 29°C inland and 10°C and 17°C in the mountains. By Wednesday morning, it will get slightly warmer, said Mr Farrah, but the rough seas are expected to continue until the evening.
Through Tuesday and Wednesday, there will be only a small chance of rain, Mr Farrah said.
