Neil Palmer, the chairman of Arabian Knights RFC, has died. Members of the Dubai-area sporting community have posted messages of condolences on social media and are paying tribute to Mr Palmer, who is being remembered as a “legend.”
“My thoughts & prayers to Palmer’s family and UAE rugby fraternity of the loss of #Neil_Palmer 1 of the best rugby clubs chairman #Legend,” tweeted Qais A. Al Dhalai, secretary general of the UAE Rugby Federation. “#Neil_Palmer was a legend who left a great legacy behind him, initiated @AK_RFC from scratch to all successes, massive Emiratis supporter.”
Mr Palmer is among the founders of the non-for-profit youth rugby club. It was set up in 2008 under the Foresight charity, which fights hereditary sight disorders in the UAE.
