DUBAI // The Easa Saleh Al Gurg Charity Foundation had donated Dh1 million to help 5,000 poor families in Umm Al Quwain.

This is the fifth year the foundation has assisted the Low Income Families Committee run by the Dar Al Ber Society, Dr Raja Easa Al Gurg, managing director of ESGCF, said.

Beneficiaries include people with special needs and orphans and help is provided with education and medical needs, house maintenance, rents and utility bills, Ramadan foodstuff packages, and school bags and stationery.

“We always submit lists of the eligible beneficiaries along with the type and amount of support to philanthropists to put them in the picture,” said Ali Hassan Al Assi, the committee chairman. “The committee is also concerned with future philanthropic projects to meet the needs of the society, [and it] has covered a large segment of the low-income families and fulfilled their urgent needs in several emirates.”
