Construction of a two-storey car park that can accommodate 406 vehicles has been completed in the area between Khalifa and Hamdan streets, the municipality announced on Wednesday.

The project is part of Abu Dhabi’s urban plan 2030, and the municipality’s efforts to enhance the profile of Abu Dhabi. It reflects the overall development vision guiding the Department of Municipal Affairs and the affiliated municipalities in the emirate.

The municipality is also carrying out improvement works on internal roads, surface parking and public spaces on Khalifa and Hamdan streets.

All safety standards were followed in the new parking facility, including the entrance and exit points of the vehicles. Access to the first floor and pedestrian staircases was constructed on the four sides of the facility.

Some service roads surrounding the current parking lot and footpaths were built near entrances of commercial outlets.

The municipality has also upgraded the water drainage and sewerage networks, drinking water pipes, carried out landscaping works, and installed seats, shelters and cycle tracks.
