Call to make possession of ‘white weapons’ illegal in UAE

There are currently no laws that incriminate those who possess knives, swords and blades, but prosecutors are calling for change.

Prosecutors are calling for a law to make the possession of so-called “white weapons” illegal.

Currently there is no law that incriminates the possession of knives, swords and other blades, explained Mohammed Al Danhani, head of family prosecution.

Only if such a weapon is used in an attack is the person prosecuted.

“Such cases are increasing, especially among juveniles, therefore a recommendation was sent to the attorney general to initiate this law,” he said.

The counsellor was speaking during the monthly media forum of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department.
