A bomb threat forced a Dubai-bound Jet Airways flight to make an emergency landing in Oman on Thursday, the Indian airline and Omani authorities said.
Oman’s civil aviation authority (CAA) said 68 passengers and crew were safely disembarked after the plane landed in Muscat. No explosives were found on board.
The airline had earlier put the number of passengers and crew at 61.
Oman’s CAA said the plane landed in the Omani capital at 1.19pm after a request for Jet Airways flight 9W536, travelling from Mumbai to Dubai, to make an emergency landing after a report of the presence of explosives on board.
The airport was closed for a short time following the bomb scare, according to a Times of Oman report.
“After searching the plane and the luggage, nothing that would threaten the plane’s safety and security was found,” it said. The agency gave no further details on when the plane would be allowed to resume its journey.
In 2013, Jet Airways sold a 24 per cent stake of its shares to Etihad.
