DUBAI // A 39-year-old Filipino maid gave birth at the house of her Emirati sponsor after an affair with their Indian driver, the Dubai Court of Misdemeanours heard.
The brother of their sponsor, M A, 30, told the court: “My brother was out of the country for business when I called him to inform him that his maid had given birth [in August].”
The maid, M M, told prosecutors that she fell in love with the driver, J E, but had only had sex once in his room in the sponsor’s house in Al Mazhar area.
This driver ran away when he knew M M was pregnant. M M is a mother of three who are all back in her home country.
She confessed to the charges of sex outside of wedlock.
The woman was sentenced to a year in the woman’s prison, where she will be able to keep her child with her and will be deported after her jail term.
