ABU DHABI // A Syrian woman has become the latest winner of a Mercedes-Benz car to be given away during the weekly Abu Dhabi Summer Season raffle draw.

Shahad Al Zalak, who shopped at City Mall in the Western Region when she submitted her raffle ticket, is the 11th winner of the prize.

Presented by Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, the raffle draw followed a performance of ‘Life in Rio’ a musical show about the adventures of Amazonian birds.

Coinciding with the announcement of Ms Al Zalak winning, Faisal Al Sheikh, director of events at the capital’s tourism authority, presented last week’s winner Abdul Hai Dur Muhammad with the keys to his new vehicle.

In total a dozen Mercedes-Benz cars will be given away to shoppers during the Summer Season at participating malls, with the next raffle draw taking place after the family show Pinocchio and Juliana on August 29 at Bawadi Mall in Al Ain.

Abu Dhabi Summer Season events will take place across Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and the Western Region.

The next shows in the season include, The Illuminaire at Emirates Palace, the Mummenschanz show at Al Ain Municipality Theatre, and Saudi comedian Bader Saleh at the du Forum. All the performances are scheduled for the last weekend of August.

The most expensive investment mistake you will ever make

When is the best time to start saving in a pension? The answer is simple – at the earliest possible moment. The first pound, euro, dollar or dirham you invest is the most valuable, as it has so much longer to grow in value. If you start in your twenties, it could be invested for 40 years or more, which means you have decades for compound interest to work its magic.

“You get growth upon growth upon growth, followed by more growth. The earlier you start the process, the more it will all roll up,” says Chris Davies, chartered financial planner at The Fry Group in Dubai.

This table shows how much you would have in your pension at age 65, depending on when you start and how much you pay in (it assumes your investments grow 7 per cent a year after charges and you have no other savings).
