ABU DHABI // Prosecutors have ordered the arrest of an Emirati motorist who was filmed driving dangerously in a European country.

Video footage of the Emirati has been circulating on social media, showing the UAE licence plate of his car, as he carried out drifting stunts on public roads.

Prosecutors charged him with driving recklessly, risking his life and the lives of others.

They explained that UAE laws apply to every Emirati who commits a violation abroad if the country where they committed the act does not prosecute him.

Attorney General Ali Al Buloushi said Emirati tourists should act in a civilised manner, especially when others are making sacrifices on the battlefields of Yemen.

“At a time when the sons of the nation are sacrificing their lives in the battlefield for the UAE’s reputation, whomever travels for tourism should be more careful and disciplined to reflect the ethics of Emiratis and the country’s image,” he said.
