DUBAI // American rally driver Ken Block will make his Middle East racing debut at Dubai International Motorshow in November.

The Californian racer, 47, has signed up with XDubai, an action sports company. He is also founder of DC, a clothing and shoe brand, having started rallying in 2005 and later forming the Monster World Rally Team.

XDubai is focused on freestyle football, motocross and surfing, but will host the city’s leg of Block’s 2015 racing programme, including an appearance at the Dubai International Motorshow on November 14.

Block is one of only four Americans to score points in the World Rally Championship. He will make his debut wearing the XDubai logo at the four-day X Games in Austin, Texas, starting on June 4.

“I’m really excited about this partnership,” said Block. “While we were in the initial discussions to make this deal possible, I took a trip to Dubai to learn more about XDubai and the city itself and I was blown away.”

“It’s a hugely impressive city and it’s also known for being a massively progressive in that region of the world. The team at XDubai absolutely gets what I do and what I’m about and, as I’m sure everyone knows, Dubai itself has a passion for all things automotive.”
