Al Mafraq Bridge opening set to ease congestion

ABU DHABI // Road users will be able to enter and exit Abu Dhabi easily when Al Mafraq bridge opens today, brings to a conclusion one of the capital's most vital projects.

The opening of the Dh830m bridge and flyover signifies the end of all construction work at interchanges on the city's perimeter.

The Al Mafraq Bridge project consists of the construction of an eight lane main bridge in the direction of Dubai and Al Ghuwaifat and two bridges; one going towards Al Shahama and the other heading westwards in the direction of Al Ain.

Part of the Municipality's strategy to keep pace with the expansion of Abu Dhabi is to ensure a highly efficient road system and safety for all road users.

"The project comes in the context of the Municipality's multiple contributions and pioneering projects to develop the city in keeping with the economic and social drive, improve the quality of services in the capital and renovate roads and infrastructure sector," said Abdullah al Shamsi, the Acting Executive Director of Municipal Infrastructure and Assets Sector.
