Ajman road deaths lower by a third this year

Road deaths in Ajman fall by a third so far this year, with the number of serious crashes down by 24 per cent.

Road deaths in Ajman have fallen by a third so far this year, with 12 people killed in traffic accidents compared with 18 in the same period last year, police figures show.

"The number of serious crashes has also dropped by 24 per cent since the beginning of the year up until August, standing at 124 serious accidents, down from 164 during the same period last year," Brig Gen Ali Abdullah Alwan, the chief of Ajman Police, told The National's sister newspaper Al Ittihad.

Ajman has seen the second most significant drop in fatal road accidents after Abu Dhabi so far this year.
