The Traffic and Patrols Department at Ajman Police is in its third week of a three-month campaign to eliminate traffic problems on highways.

The campaign monitors infractions such as excessive speed, reckless driving, and engine and body modifications that increase a vehicle’s speed.

Director of the campaign, and head of the traffic and patrols department in Ajman, Maj Saif Al Falassi said the police had received numerous complaints from residents.

He said the teams taking part in the campaign have issued 78 tickets related to reckless driving, introducing modifications to vehicles and endangering the lives of others. Thirty-seven vehicles have been impounded for serious infractions. The majority of violations have been committed by motorists between 20 and 30 years old.

Major Al Falassi urged the public to report any traffic violations to the police and stressed the need to observe safety traffic rules.

Mia Man’s tips for fermentation

- Start with a simple recipe such as yogurt or sauerkraut

- Keep your hands and kitchen tools clean. Sanitize knives, cutting boards, tongs and storage jars with boiling water before you start.

- Mold is bad: the colour pink is a sign of mold. If yogurt turns pink as it ferments, you need to discard it and start again. For kraut, if you remove the top leaves and see any sign of mold, you should discard the batch.

- Always use clean, closed, airtight lids and containers such as mason jars when fermenting yogurt and kraut. Keep the lid closed to prevent insects and contaminants from getting in.
