The training and curriculum of Adnoc’s technical institute has been overhauled to foster a new generation of young Emirati technicians and operators.
Speaking at the launch of the revamped Adnoc Technical Academy, Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of State and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company group chief executive, said that “our employees will remain our most precious asset".
"To meet upstream, midstream and downstream demand for highly skilled professional operators and technicians, ATA will train more than 350 students per year. These roles are of utmost importance to our future success, ensuring that our sites continue to run safely, efficiently and reliably.”
“The Adnoc Technical Academy has been a centre of excellence for nearly 40 years, equipping young Emiratis with the education and technical training needed to forge successful careers as specialists with Adnoc.”
The technical training and services from recruitment criteria to operations, facilities, on-the-job training have been enhanced as part of the revamp.
“In line with UAE leadership’s focus on empowerment and development of youth, the Adnoc Technical Academy remains committed to developing young Emiratis into UAE’s technicians and operators of the future,” Dr Al Jaber said.
The academy has trained more than 5,000 UAE nationals for careers in the oil and gas industry since it was established in 1978. The graduates join Adnoc’s workforce after graduation with several in senior positions.
The training inside the classroom and in simulated sessions aims to equip students with mechanical, technical and instrumental skills required to control the oil and gas industry processes.
The academy has also introduced a new two-and-a-half year program combining classroom learning with hands-on work. The new curriculum integrates the latest technological advancements to ensure the graduates are equipped to work in the field.
Based in Al Shawamekh, Abu Dhabi, the campus comprises educational, technical, recreational facilities and a hostel for more than 500 students.
