Abu Dhabi National Oil Company paid tribute to health workers around the world, battling to eradicate polio, with a video display marking World Polio Day on its headquarters building in the UAE capital.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has donated $167 million since 2011 to support global efforts to eradicate the disease, with a particular focus on Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The UAE has been especially active in Pakistan, administering 347 million vaccines to 57 million children since 2014 and providing $120 million (Dh440.7m) in funding to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.
