Slaughterhouses in Abu Dhabi are now ready for the Holy Month of Ramadan, the municipality announced today.

The abattoirs are expected to run from 6am to 6pm seven days a week throughout the holy month to cater to residents' needs.

"It has been decided to introduce a third night shift in Abu Dhabi abattoirs in a bid to alleviate the suffering of fasting customers and avoid congestion in a way that serves the community," said Khalifa Mohammed Al Rumaithi, the municipality's director of public health.

An inspection was carried out on all equipment and tools to ensure a healthy environment for visitors. A vet will also inspect all animals in the livestock market and ensure all butchers have undergone training in food safety.
