Organisers of the Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance have announced the closure of submissions, with 751 bids from 49 government agencies.
The main category, which includes entities and "drivers of excellence", received 203 submissions, with 143 filed for the "projects or teams" category, the General Secretariat of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council said yesterday.
Another 405 submissions were made for the third category, in which applicants compete for the Executive Council's Chairman's Order.
In its third edition, the awards are meant to be a reflection of the Government's priorities, which are instilling the principles of excellence in public service while striking a balance between individual and institutional goals, the Executive Council said.
This year, the award "has seen a remarkable participation rate from various entities, which all stepped forward to compete for the award's range of categories", said Yasir Al Naqbi, manager of the award's office.
Applications will now be assessed, with field visits due in September and October.
Among the entities competing for the awards are the Health Authority Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, twofour54, Abu Dhabi Media - the owner and publisher of The National -  Abu Dhabi Municipality, Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Food Control Authority.
