Abu Dhabi Police warn public to be vigilant over cold call fraudsters

Police in Abu Dhabi are calling on the public to be on their guard against the threat of phone scammers.

The force is urging residents not to fall foul of fraudsters asking for financial information - such as bank account details - during unsolicited phone calls and text messages.

Police warned that cold calling criminals often offer fake cash rewards to get their hands on sensitive information.

Abu Dhabi Police asked people who feel they have been targeted by tricksters to contact them.

Last week, Abu Dhabi Police released footage of a raid on a group of 24 suspected fraudsters at a flat in Ajman accused of promising bogus cash prizes to people in exchange for phone credit.
