Abu Dhabi Police arrest engineer over ‘bribe’

ABU DHABI // Abu Dhabi Police have arrested a soil expert for taking a Dh15,000 bribe.

The 63-year-old is accused of taking the bribe to finalise a soil clearance transaction at a government laboratory in Abu Dhabi.

Col Moded Al Muhairi, director of the Abu Dhabi Police anti-corruption department, said the department received information that showed the suspect’s involvement in a financial and administrative corruption case.

The engineer, who is seconded from a recruitment agency, was arrested after receiving the bribe and admitted during questioning to exploiting his job for personal gain and accepting a bribe, police said.

The suspect was arrested in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport.
