ABU DHABI // Bus services in the capital will run with greater frequency after midnight tonight as a result of the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Once the clock strikes midnight seven routes will see buses running every 20 minutes instead of every hour.
Lines 5, 7, 32, 34, 52, 54, and 63 will be affected, the Department of Transport said.
The routes include those running between Marina Mall, Al Maryah and Al Reem Islands, Al Mina, Zayed Sports City, Al Maqta, and the area surrounding Emirates Palace.
Bus fares within the city are Dh2 while fares to the suburbs start at Dh2, increasing by 5 fils for every kilometre.
With cash payments phased out earlier this year commuters will need Hafilat smartcards to board buses.
The cards can be bought and recharged at ticket offices at all major bus stations as well as automated vending machines near bus stops.
