ABU DHABI // More than 2,000 mosques have undergone refurbishment work to prepare them for the increased number of worshippers during Ramadan.
The work was carried out by government facilities management company Musanada, in cooperation with General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments.
It included 600 mosques in Abu Dhabi city, 1,012 in Al Ain and 242 in the Al Gharbia region, reported Al Ittihad, the sister newspaper of The National.
Matar Al Mansouri of Musanada said the maintenance requests were dealt with on a basis of priority, with mosques that had safety issues being fixed first.
