ABU DHABI // Seventeen hair salons for children have been issued warnings after falling short on health standards.
Abu Dhabi Municipality carried out inspections on 193 hair salons for children as part of a clampdown on hygiene.
Four offences were reported while two earlier notices were followed up. They were mainly related to health and safety breaches.
The municipality did not specify the the names of the beauty salons found to be in violation of health codes.
The five-day campaign was aimed at raising the awareness of salon operators about health standards.
Salon workers and operators were told by the municipality to adhere to all safety and quality requirements to protect their clients.
Workers must also obtain health fitness certificates, wear uniforms and maintain good appearance and personal hygiene.
Meanwhile, seven hair salons were recently granted business licences and permits for meeting health regulations and standards.
