ABU DHABI // Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, welcomed Libya's Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar to Abu Dhabi on Saturday and congratulated him on the liberation of Benghazi city.
He also wished him and the Libyan people success and good luck in their efforts against extremists and terrorists to liberate all of Libya, and expressed the UAE's support for the Libyan people, the state news agency WAM reported.
Sheikh Mohammed also expressed his hope for the unity of the Libyan people and reiterated the UAE's unequivocal position towards the stability of the country, which was the key driver of ''our policy towards this brotherly Arab country''. The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and the Libyan commander discussed ways of boosting bilateral cooperation and took stock of the latest regional and global developments.
Field Marshal Haftar expressed gratitude to the UAE for standing with the Libyan people.
