ABU DHABI // A witness in an Appeal Court hearing leapt towards a panel of judges after the defendant accused him of faking an illness. The incident happened during an appeal hearing of A A, a Palestinian, who had been convicted of forging a rental contract.

When his accuser, an Emirati, entered into the courtroom he walked with a cane and was visibly shaking.

A A told the court that he believed the witness was faking his medical condition.

“When we were outside he raised his cane and there was nothing wrong with him,” he said.

At that point, the Emirati jumped towards the judges’ panel and raised his cane to demonstrate his body tremors.

He pointed towards his back and shouted that his shaking was a result of recent back surgery.

The case was adjourned until April 14.
