Abu Dhabi Municipality has seized more than half a tonne of Pakistani chewing tobacco - known as neswar - and substances used in its manufacture from an unlicensed, makeshift plant in Mussafah.
Jassim Mubarak Al Dhaheri, head of the Municipality's industrial areas operations office, noted that some of the chemicals used to make neswar, such as limestone, are dangerous and toxic.
The confiscated tobacco was incinerated.
Inspectors also found an illegal wooden housing facility where more than 40 workers lived.
