A mysterious phone call from number 1971 has surprised Emiratis with a pre-recorded National Day greeting from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.
Birds chirp in the background as the sheikh wishes them future happiness.
The UAE celebrates 47 years as a union of seven emirates on Sunday, with the public and private sector enjoying Sunday and Monday off work. The message appeared to be sent only to the phones of Emiratis.

He says: “Hello, this is Mohammed bin Rashid.
“I want to personally wish you happy National Day, to wish you happy days ahead and glorious days for the nation.
“We will continue to serve you and the nation. May the Lord save you, your family and the Emirates.”
Social media users expressed surprise and delight at the unexpected message, sharing videos of the phone call online.
