The weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with rain expected in some areas on Sunday.
Maximum temperatures will reach 25°C in Abu Dhabi and 24°C in Dubai. Minimum temperatures will be at 17°C and 18°C respectively.
About a year's worth of rain – 99.2mm – fell in Saih Al Salam in Dubai in the first eight and half hours of 2022, said the National Centre of Meteorology.
The area is home to Al Qudra Lakes, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park and Bab Al Shams Desert Resort and Spa.
Parts of Abu Dhabi city received up to 22mm, while an area of Dubai received 49.5mm of rain.
More rainfall is forecast until Tuesday, along with a drop in temperatures.

Monday, January 3
Clouds will bring rains to scattered parts of the country. Moderate to fresh winds are forecast, which may become strong at times and blow dust and sand. Visibility will be reduced and the sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and in the Oman Sea.
Tuesday, January 4
The weather will be partly cloudy with rain in some areas. A significant fall in temperatures is expected. Visibility will drop and conditions will be rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf and rough in the Oman Sea.
Wednesday and Thursday
It will be partly cloudy and dusty at times. Strong winds, reduced visibility and rough seas are predicted. Similar weather will continue on Thursday.
