ABU DHABI // Two people died and 10 were seriously injured in motorcycle accidents in the first six months of this year, police said today.
Most motorcycle accidents are due to excessive speed, ignorance of safe-driving rules, sudden swerving, and failing to keep sufficient distance between vehicles, said Col Hamad Mubarak Al Ameri, director of the Abu Dhabi Police traffic and patrols directorate.
He urged motorcyclists to observe personal safety measures, especially wearing their helmet, which can prevent serious head injuries.
He also called on riders to ensure their vehicles’ safety, to check their tires and headlights, to carry a first-aid kit, and to refrain from taking passengers.
