ABU DHABI // More than 1,300 Emirati residents of Abu Dhabi will receive the keys to their new homes in Al Falah today.

Al Falah Housing City project, in its third phase, aims to provide Emirati families with a stable living environment.

At Abu Dhabi Municipality, employees will staff 25 counters dedicated to processing the formalities of the handover, from 8am to 8pm.

The municipality announced that the front parking spot of Gate No 1 will be dedicated to beneficiaries of the grant during the handover period, free of charge. Mini electric vehicles will be deployed to transport visitors to the main municipality building.

Residents should bring the required documents to the municipality, including a passport copy, family book and identity card. Residents applying for daily services should use the municipal centres in Bateen, Zafraneh, Shahama, Wathba, Mussaffah, Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Marina Mall.

The project, which is being built over several phases, comprises 4,857 villas on about 1,250 hectares, spanning five residential districts. The housing projects will include mosques, schools, a mall, a hospital, office space and shops.

The Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan mosque, with a capacity for 2,000 worshippers, opened to the public last year.

The first 1,000 villas were released in August last year and the second batch of three, four and five-bedroom villas were handed over in October. The third phase involves 1,326 Emiratis.

The project features innovative architectural designs befitting the family living style of Emiratis. Houses feature three architectural designs that combine stylish patterns while retaining the local heritage theme.

The scheme is part of a series of initiatives for housing citizens launched by the Abu Dhabi Government in 2010, with the aim of providing diverse residential options for new generations. It hopes to bolster national identity.

The project was ordered by the President, Sheikh Khalifa, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

The Lands and Houses Distribution Committee is responsible for allocating the properties.
