DUBAI// A man confessed to molesting an 11-year-old girl who was shopping with her parents in Al Qusais area, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Sunday.
Prosecutors told the court that on October 7 this year, Indian S M was with her parents at a clothing shop when the defendant, Sri Lankan A A, 31, hugged her from behind.
The girl said the defendant stuck his body to hers and held her at the waist.
S M then rushed to her parents and informed them. “I asked her what he had done and she confirmed his assault so we called police,” said the girl’s 39-year-old father, an engineer.
The defendant was arrested shortly after and S M identified him three times.
Camera footage from the shop showed the defendant molesting S M.
The next hearing will be on January 6.
