ABU DHABI // A new television show called Brain Games will begin on the National Geographic's free-to-air Arabic channel from Sunday.
The show intends to sharpen minds through optical illusions, mind-boggling experiments and science.
It will cover topics from visual perception to sound, creativity, lying, attractiveness and persuasion.
With man-on-the-street demonstrations and viewer participation through interactive brain-busters, Brain Games will offer a workout for the mind.
The show will be hosted by Jason Silva, a self-proclaimed "wonder junkie", and Apollo Robbins, an American sleight-of-hand artist and a deception specialist.
Silva said: "Despite all of the dazzling advances of modern technology, there is not yet a machine more powerful, amazing and mysterious than the human brain. We lift the veil on some of these mysteries."
Robbins added: "You'll never meet a con artist as gifted in the art of deception as your own mind."
If you have ever arrived home and realised you do not remember a single detail of the drive home, then you have experienced unintentional blindness.
The brain is constantly bombarded by far more information than it can handle. As a result, it stitches together small parts of what is in front of you at any given moment. Taking advantage of this loophole in the brain's hard wiring, the Brain Games experts are able to distract viewers, pulling off baffling stunts.
The show will be aired every Sunday at 9pm on National Geographic Abu Dhabi, with two repeats shown on Mondays.

What is Reform?
Reform is a right-wing, populist party led by Nigel Farage, a former MEP who won a seat in the House of Commons last year at his eighth attempt and a prominent figure in the campaign for the UK to leave the European Union.
It was founded in 2018 and originally called the Brexit Party.
Many of its members previously belonged to UKIP or the mainstream Conservatives.
After Brexit took place, the party focused on the reformation of British democracy.
Former Tory deputy chairman Lee Anderson became its first MP after defecting in March 2024.
The party gained support from Elon Musk, and had hoped the tech billionaire would make a £100m donation. However, Mr Musk changed his mind and called for Mr Farage to step down as leader in a row involving the US tycoon's support for far-right figurehead Tommy Robinson who is in prison for contempt of court.

WHAT IS GRAPHENE?
It was discovered in 2004, when Russian-born Manchester scientists Andrei Geim and Kostya Novoselov were experimenting with sticky tape and graphite, the material used as lead in pencils.
Placing the tape on the graphite and peeling it, they managed to rip off thin flakes of carbon. In the beginning they got flakes consisting of many layers of graphene. But when they repeated the process many times, the flakes got thinner.
By separating the graphite fragments repeatedly, they managed to create flakes that were just one atom thick. Their experiment led to graphene being isolated for the very first time.
In 2010, Geim and Novoselov were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics.
