Dubai // A man threatened to post naked pictures of his cousin online if her father fired him from his job, a court heard.

The Jordanian woman said her cousin, Y A, found the pictures when he reformatted her computer.

“About a year and a half ago I asked him to reformat my computer since he had experience in such things,” S M, 23 told the Dubai Court of Misdemeanours. “After he did it he called me and said he saw nude pictures of me. I asked him not to tell anyone about them,” she said.

The woman said her cousin, who denied issuing threats contacted her on Facebook asking to meet, but she refused. He then tried to sell the pictures to one of her friends, the court heard.

The woman told her mother – who is the defendant’s aunt. She met him and he swore to her he didn’t have the pictures but he saw them and would not tell anyone, S M said.

But the man, also from Jordan, later sent her mother a text message threatening to post the pictures.

“The text message came when we were in Jordan on August 25, and he sent it to force my father to keep him in the company and not end his services,” she said.

The defendant claimed that he found inappropriate pictures of her with a strange man and because he is her cousin he spoke to her about them.

The next hearing was set for January 28.
