DUBAI // An unemployed drunk who tried to molest a 15-year-old schoolgirl was overpowered and thrown to the floor, a court heard yesterday.
The girl was waiting at a school bus stop in Karama when BA, 45, from Afghanistan, passed by and reached under her skirt to grope her. He tried to pull her skirt off but she pushed him and he crumpled to the ground. He stumbled back to his feet and fled.
Prosecutors told the Criminal Court the incident took place on the afternoon of April 11 this year.
The man confessed to police that he had tried to grope the girl.
He was not present in court to face charges of sexual assault and drinking alcohol without a licence.
The next hearing was scheduled for September 29.
