ABU DHABI // More than 4,000 illegal residents were arrested in Ajman between January and July this year, compared to 3,560 during the same period last year.
The most number of violators - 752 - were arrested in June, followed by 619 in April, reported WAM, the state news agency.
“Those residing illegally in the country nabbed by the police were 2,719,” said Brigadier Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Acting Commander General of Ajman Police.
He said there were 1,146 absconders, 239 infiltrators, 35 found to be working without sponsors, while 13 were deported and 14 were wanted in different cases.
