VfL Wolfsburg won their first Bundesliga title yesterday when they defeated Werder Bremen 5-1. Previous champions Bayern Munich finished two points behind in second and clinched the second automatic Champions League spot with a 2-1 win over third-placed VfB Stuttgart, who will play in the Champions League qualifiers. The Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath, who has also won two titles with Bayern, is leaving to coach Schalke next season. "At the start of the season, I really didn't think we had a chance of winning the title," said Magath, "but I knew we had a good team and we played well and deserved the title."
