The National's Sport cover for the Wednesday, October 22 issue, featuring Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany whose side were held to a 2-2 draw in Moscow on Tuesday night in the Champions League by CSKA.

The Premier League title holders continued a vexing Champions League group stage campaign, having gone now three matches without a win, leaving them two points from last 16 qualification behind Group E second placed side AS Roma.

“Why (would we not qualify)? We have nine more points to play for,” was manager Manuel Pellegrini’s response, though. “After we have played for the remaining nine points, we will see.”

In their favour, two of City’s last three group fixtures will be played at the Etihad Stadium, with the CSKA return leg of November 5 set to be played in Manchester as well as the November 25 match against Bayern Munich.

“Of course, in the end,” Man City will progress, Pellegrini proclaimed.
