The National’s Sport cover for the Tuesday, November 11 issue, featuring Pakistan, who continued their searing batting form in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
With three centuries – and nearly another two – Pakistan declared at 566/3 on Monday against New Zealand in the first innings of the first Test.
Younis Khan (100) and Misbah-ul-Haq (102) both recorded unbeaten centuries, with Ahmed Shehzad (176) only going out on a freak accident that left him with a fractured skull. Mohammad Hafeez (96) and Azhar Ali (87) piled on the runs, as well.
Covering the match, Osman Samiuddin writes:
“Of all the weird things to have happened to Pakistan cricket in over 60 years, maybe the craziest is happening right now, or over these last two weeks.
“Pakistan are batting like kings. It is as if they have been making up for a lifetime of poor batting.”
