Luiz Adriano’s transfer to Al Ahli appears to have suffered another setback after his agent confirmed the player’s desire to sign for AC Milan.
Ahli had a bid, believed to be around €8 million (Dh32.8m), accepted for the Shakhtar Donetsk striker last week, but reports emerged that he preferred a move to western Europe.
Adriano’s current contract expires in December, making the Brazilian an attractive option for a number of clubs, including Italian sides Milan and AS Roma, while Ligue 1’s Monaco are also said to be interested.

At the weekend, Shakhtar coach Mircea Lucescu said Adriano decided to spurn Ahli’s offer in favour for a switch to a major European league.
Ahli chairman Abdullah Al Naboodah has since acknowledged the Dubai club’s situation had changed, but he said he was still hopeful of a positive resolution.
That seems to have received a fresh blow, though, with Adriano’s agent suggesting on Monday that Milan were in pole position to acquire the player.
“They have to come to an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk,” Gilmar Veloz reportedly told Italian media. “I don’t know if Milan are planning to make an offer, you’ll have to ask [club vice-president Adriano] Galliani.
“Luiz Adriano would like to play for Milan, as would any football player.”
