The Garden City club now look ahead to trying to overturn a 3-0 deficit in the second leg of their Asian Champions League semi-finals tie against Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal.
A scoreline of 4-0, fittingly enough, would do the trick.
"We were not thinking about the Hilal match when we travelled to Ajman, but this result certainly will do a world of good for the players ahead of that game," Al Ain manager Zlatko Dalic told The National's Amith Passela.
That return leg is slated for Tuesday at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium.
