Thursday cover: Al Ahli out to prove 35 is the new 25

The National’s Sport cover for the Thursday, September 11 issue, featuring Al Ahli, one of the Arabian Gulf League’s most veteran clubs – and yet also its runaway defending champions.

Ahmed Rizvi explores how the squad packed with experience in foreign contingent Grafite, 35, Mirel Radoi, 33, Ciel, 32 and Luiz Jimenez, 30, plan to keep that spring in their step and hold off a rejuvenated set of challengers for the UAE domestic title this season.

He writes: “‘Too much of a good thing,’ Mae West, the late Hollywood star, once said, ‘can be wonderful.’”
