MUSCAT // The Qatar coach Bruno Metsu has just one goal when his side take on Yemen tonight in their final Group B game. That is to see his players emerge a winners by a three-goal margin to ensure Qatar progress into the last four in the competition. The Frenchman, who led the UAE to a historic Gulf Cup two years ago, said: "There is no question about it. We go into this game with one thing in mind, and that is to win by a three-plus score. I am not very worried about my team being unable to score in the last two games. I still believe they were very good games. And it was against Yemen that both Saudi Arabia and the UAE have scored, and now it's our turn.
"I am not interested in the other game but my focus is to win this game by a margin that would take us to the next round." The assistant coach Hamza al Jamal, who takes charge of Yemen after the minnows sacked Mohsin Saleh, only hopes he can get his players motivated after two disastrous results. "We need to restore some pride for our fans," said al Jamal. "It is a difficult task to motivate the players but we will fight to give our fans something to cheer about."
Saleh, who left on Friday night, admitted they were outplayed by the Saudis. "Yemen is the weakest team in the competition yet I thought we could have given a good run to the others. I am very disappointed." @Email:apassela@thenational.ae
