Which way will Nick Kyrgios go from here?
The 20-year-old Australian has really hit the pits this time with his disgraceful on-court comments about Stan Wawrinka’s girlfriend during their second round match in Montreal.
The only way is up from here, but you can never be sure with Kyrgios, especially since the people close to him seem just too willing to condone his behaviour. His mother, Nill, is one, but this time she was trying to defend the indefensible by claiming Kyrgios was only reacting to things Wawrinka had said after their last match.
“That’s still in Nick’s head, so the minute that Stan starts giving Nick cheek, what do you think will happen?,” she said. “He’ll say whatever comes to his mind that will upset the guy.”

So, as per Kyrgios’s upbringing, he is allowed to say “whatever comes to mind”, on the court, in front of cameras, no matter how disgraceful it is.
No wonder Kyrgios thinks it is cool to behave like a goon and talk like a pimp.
Why would he want to change?
It is not just his mother — even his Davis Cup captain Wally Masur came to his defence.
“When I actually saw the incident, what was fairly obvious is that Nick had his back turned to Stan, he was 90 feet away, and he mumbled it under his breath,” Masur said on Friday.
“I mean, no way was he actually being confrontational.”
So Kyrgios is just this nice kid, being repeatedly misunderstood by the world?
Great — and why would he need enemies when he has friends like these?
