Struggle goes on for Milan

The big shock the Champions League's second week saw FC Zurich stun AC Milan 1-0 in the San Siro Stadium thanks to a moment of magic from Hannu Tihinen. Milan, who have struggled in Serie A in Italy this season, were still expected to have to much for their Swiss opponents in their Group C clash. But Tihinen's back-heel from close range in the 10th minute put Zurich ahead as Milan struggled, with Leonardo's side going closest to an equaliser in stoppage time as Massimo Ambrosini struck a post with a fierce shot.

In the other Group C match Real Madrid cruised past Marseille with a 3-0 triumph thanks to two second-half goals from Ronaldo and a Kaka penalty. Marseille had Souleymane Diawara sent off for two bookable offences, the second of which was given for felling Ronaldo in the penalty area, allowing Kaka to do the business from the spot.

In Group B, CSKA Moscow put their defeat to Wolfsburg behind them to see off a late spell of pressure from Besiktas and claim a 2-1 victory. Goals from Alan Dzagoev and Milos Krasic put Moscow in charge before Ekrem Dag pulled a goal back, In Group D a first half goal from Nicolas Anelka proved enough for Chelsea to maintain their 100 per cent record as they beat Apoel Nicosia, while the other game in the group saw late goals from Falcao and Rolando give Porto a 2-0 triumph over Atletico Madrid.

Bayern Munich and Juventus played out a goalless draw in Group A, while a header seven minutes from time from Michael Ciani gave Bordeaux a 1-0 win triumph over Maccabi Haifa. * With agencies
