ABU DHABI // Some of the top marksmen in the government sector will be taking aim at the second Caracal Shooting Club competition at the Armed Forces Officers Club starting on Sunday.
The competition, now slated as an annual one in the shooting calendar of events, is for the government employees and is open to both men and women.
"Shooting is one of the popular and prestigious sports in the country, and our objectives are to provide more opportunities at all levels to compete," said Salem al Matroushi, the acting chief operating officer of Caracal.

"We introduced it last year and we saw a lot of potential. This event has the potential to unearth some talent.
"Besides, we want to promote shooting as a healthy and safe sport, and also to encourage participation of women for them to excel in a potential Olympic medal-winning sport.
"The Caracal F 9mm pistol will be used with a 15-metre distance for men and 10-metre for women.
"We also want to promote Caracal as a product of UAE and allow people to experience it."
The competition has drawn 12 teams of six competitors.
The best five scores will be chosen as the final score.
"It is another initiative to encourage members of the government sector to participate in a shooting competition," said Abu Dhabi Sports Council representative Talal al Hashemi.
"The competition is not only for the Emiratis but for all those employed in the government sector, so it provides an excellent platform for Emiratis, as well as the expatriates, to compete on a common platform."
Teams taking part are the Abu Dhabi Judiciary Department, Executive Affairs Authority, Ministry of Presidential Affairs, the Office of Brand Abu Dhabi, Crown Prince's Court, Think Flash, ADSC, Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, Abu Dhabi Media, Tawazun, Western Region Representative Office and Western Region Department Council.
