Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed has opted out from the Giants Endurance Cup series to compete in the National Day Cup, a CEI two-star 120-kilometre race, at the Emirates International Endurance Village in Al Wathba tomorrow.
The three-race Giants series is for riders with a body weight of 75kgs and over, and their race is being staged alongside the National Day Cup, an open event that has drawn more than 100 entries for a purse of Dh 300,000 and a motor vehicle for the winner.
"The National Day Cup is a prestigious title after the President's Cup in Abu Dhabi," Adnan Sultan al Nuaimi, the director general of the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, said. "It has drawn the cream of the riders and horses around the country along with some entries from Bahrain. And with Sheikh Hamdan's presence, it's going to be a very close race."
Sheikh Hamdan was a member of the UAE's gold medal-winning endurance team at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky in September.
Sheikh Hamdan's younger brother, Sheikh Majid, along with Bahrain's Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and his brother Shaikh Khalid are among the top riders of 65 entries in the Giants series.

“One mistake people always make is adding extra wasabi. There is no need for this, because it should already be there between the rice and the fish.
