Promoted Baniyas go into their opening Pro League game against Al Wasl tonight full of hope and optimism - but not too much expectation. Much rests on the shoulders of Senegalese striker Andre Senghor, who is relishing the prospect of a regular starting spot after playing a bit-part role during his three-year stay at Al Ain. Senghor said: "I have enjoyed my stay at Al Ain, but the opportunity to play the main role at Baniyas gives me more motivation. I want to help them win every game. At least that's my thoughts. "I think we have a decent enough team with several Emirati players who I played with at Al Ain. I wouldn't say we are going to win the Pro League, but we have a strong squad to finish somewhere in the middle of the league standing, and possibly win one of the two cup competitions." The Brazilian, Alexandre Guimareas, is in charge of Al Wasl, the club who fired four managers last season, finishing seventh. "I don't want to reflect on the past," said the former coach of Costa Rica and Panama national teams. "We have assembled a decent squad and I don't see any reason why we can't be in the race for the trophies."
