Rafael Nadal makes it onto the front of The National Sport front page on Saturday, January 2 after reaching the Mubadala World Tennis Championship final in Abu Dhabi.
Nadal, a two-time winner at Mubadala, continued his fine end-of-season form of last year to defeat fellow Spaniard and world No 7 David Ferrer 6-3 6-7 6-3.
The 14-time grand slam champion will meet big-serving Canadian Milos Raonic in the final after he defeated world No 4 Stan Wawrinka in the other semi-final.
Osman Samiuddin was at Zayed Sports City for Nadal's victory and offers his analysis from the match. Are we set to see a new Nadal in 2016?
Ahmed Rizvi was also in attendance and saw Raonic's win against Wawrinka — a match the Swiss lost more so than the Canadian won
