Schalke's travel plans were disrupted by a two-hour delay yesterday on their way to Manchester for tonight's second leg of their Champions League semi-final against Manchester United due to visa issues for the German club's players from outside the European Union - Jefferson Farfan (Peru), Atsuto Uchida (Japan), Ali Karimi (Iran), Junmin Hao (China) and Edu (Brazil).

Ralf Rangnick's side trail United by two goals from the first leg in Gelsenkirchen last week and know they must achieve something they have never managed in four previous trips to England in Uefa competitions if they want to progress to the final at Wembley Stadium on May 28 - win.

The Schalke coach remains optimistic though that his side can pull off a shock at Old Trafford.

"The main things is to believe in ourselves," he said. "Why should we capitulate? Stranger things have happened in football."
