ABU DHABI // Ibrahim Diaky's probable departure from Al Jazira has taken another twist.
Al Ain, the Pro League champions, now seems a more likely destination despite the midfielder having stated his desire to join Al Ahli, the President's Cup winners.
"After the latest round of talks, my chances of playing for Al Ain appear to be more realistic than a move to Ahli," the Al Jazira midfielder told Arabic daily Al Ittihad.
"Still, I can only know of my exact position once all the discussions and negotiations are completed, hopefully by end of this week."
The midfielder has also not ruled out the possibility of remaining in Abu Dhabi at Jazira.
"I have had talks with officials at Al Ain and I really appreciate the faith they have on me. There is also a possibility I would remain at Jazira after all.
"I am trying to consider all the latest options and make some compromises on my earlier statements of joining Ahli. Hopefully we can come to an agreement where all parties will be happy."
Diaky, a Jazira player for the last nine years, has a contract at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium until July 2014.
However, he was unhappy at being left out from the line-up in the last 11 games of last season under new coach Luis Milla and has made it clear he wishes to leave the club.
Diaky said his preference was to join Ahli despite receiving offers from Al Ain and two unnamed clubs - one from Qatar and one from France.
"Although Al Ain has offered me an attractive offer, my heart is set on playing for Ahli," he said at that time.
Diaky, 31, born in Ivory Coast, was granted UAE citizenship in 2006.

What is a robo-adviser?
Robo-advisers use an online sign-up process to gauge an investor’s risk tolerance by feeding information such as their age, income, saving goals and investment history into an algorithm, which then assigns them an investment portfolio, ranging from more conservative to higher risk ones.
These portfolios are made up of exchange traded funds (ETFs) with exposure to indices such as US and global equities, fixed-income products like bonds, though exposure to real estate, commodity ETFs or gold is also possible.
Investing in ETFs allows robo-advisers to offer fees far lower than traditional investments, such as actively managed mutual funds bought through a bank or broker. Investors can buy ETFs directly via a brokerage, but with robo-advisers they benefit from investment portfolios matched to their risk tolerance as well as being user friendly.
Many robo-advisers charge what are called wrap fees, meaning there are no additional fees such as subscription or withdrawal fees, success fees or fees for rebalancing.

Weather warnings show that Storm Eunice is soon to make landfall. The videographer and I are scrambling to return to the other side of the Channel before it does.
